I lied. There is room for another post before our trip. Why? I had a waffle craving. Not just any waffle, a Liege waffle. A mixture of crunchy caramelized sugar bliss.
1 c flour
1 c butter, softened
2 1/2 t sugar
1/3 c warm water
2 1/2 t yeast
Pinch of salt
1 c sugar pearls or crumbled sugar cubes.
Combine sugar and warm water and yeast. Set aside for 5-10 minutes. Add salt and flower and mix well. Knead softened butter in by hand. Let dough rise 40-90 minutes, or until doubled. Punch down and mix in sugar pearls.
Heat waffle iron to medium high and spoon about 1/4 c of dough onto iron. Cook. Top with biscoff spread, strawberries, and ice cream or whipped cream.
